Phil Harvey is the driving force behind Cedar Shade Company, where he combines precision, creativity, and leadership to deliver exceptional design-build outdoor structures. With a strong foundation in leadership honed during his 11 years as a Marine Corps Captain and Naval Flight Instructor, Phil brings a disciplined yet innovative approach to construction management.

After earning his BA in Geology from the University of Texas at Arlington, Phil embarked on a career in aviation, serving as a KC-130 Aircraft Commander and later as a First Officer with United Airlines. The events of 9/11 marked a pivotal turn in his journey, inspiring him to transition from the cockpit to the construction industry. In 2000, he founded Cedar Shade Company, rejecting a recall to the airline industry five years later to focus on growing his business and pioneering a streamlined design-build process.

Phil's leadership at Cedar Shade Company revolves around coordinating every facet of the job process, from consulting on custom designs to managing shop crews and overseeing installations as an on-site superintendent. His innovative build-then-install approach reduces customer project timelines, ensuring efficient and seamless delivery.

Outside of work, Phil enjoys outdoor recreation, including hiking, river running, and traveling, often accompanied by his three young adult children. These experiences fuel his passion for creating outdoor spaces that enhance clients’ lives. Drawing on his military background, Phil continues to lead with integrity and determination, constantly refining his processes to ensure Cedar Shade Company's enduring success.
